Description
The very first invasion of the mortal plane, over four hundred years ago.
It was an era of chaos and destruction, during which a third of the global population perished to the demonic onslaught brought to the mortal plane by the Allfather Demon, who was searching for the two remaining World Stones.
Events
Only a few months before the first gate opened, the populations of midnight moth, a rare and elusive coal-black moth species, were booming in record numbers. Scholars all around the world were confused as to how the species had gotten such explosive growth, while prophets saw the event as an ill omen.
A few months after the midnight moth boom, in the year 5 B.L.T. the very first gate opened in the capital of the Galean Kingdom. The capital fell within just a few hours, despite thousands of soldiers and mages.
More and more gates kept opening up all around the world, decimating city after city. Especially the upper demons proved to be quite efficient, effortlessly defeating the greatest of sorcerers and warriors.
During the first years, 20 percent of the global population perished. It was only after the two twin brothers from a rural village, Lumare and Kaligo, joined the fray, that the tide turned in favour of humanity.
Lumare and Kaligo trained thousands, if not tens of thousands of sorcerers in water and fire magic respectively, gaining a fighting chance against the demonic onslaught.
During one particularly fearsome battle, an unexpected ally joined the fight; the very first albinar (abscondita) to be seen in over a thousand years, Eira Everfrost.
Lumare and Kaligo began closing the gates for the first time with the help of Eira Everfrost and the Stone of Destruction. Five years after the first gate opened, 30% of the global population having perished, Lumare, Kaligo and Eira closed the very last gate, signaling the end of the Chaos Times.
In the end, the demons (the forces of the Allfather Demon) were pushed back to Etheria, having acquired neither the Stone of Life & Time nor the Stone of Destruction.
Misc
The term “demon” or “imp” has become a highly insulting slur as a result of the Chaos Times.
