Description

Brutish demons boasting immense strength and resilience. Minotaurids are as strong as trolls and can continue fighting even after losing an arm or receiving multiple fatal injuries.

Minotaurids are highly competitive and aggressive, being driven by their unquenchable bloodthirst.

Most minotaurids die from infighting long before reaching adulthood. Those that do get to adulthood (30 years+) are the strongest of their kin, likely having killed dozens of their peers.

History

Minotaurids were created by the Allfather Demon to be the frontline brutes of his army; bloodthirsty killing machines.

Every five years, the Allfather selects the strongest minotaurid out of each tribe (≈10,000 individuals) for a ritual to copy their genetic material, essentially resulting in a twisted artificial form of natural selection that favors the strong.

Over the millennia, the strength, resilience, and cunning of the minotaurids has slowly but surely risen, also resulting in their now unquenchable bloodlust.

Other Information

Minotaurids have a deep desire for bloodshed much like hunger. To keep their populations from dwindling from killing each other, the minotaurids partake in nearly daily hunting.

Their favourite prey are the titan mantises, who closely match their strength. Defeating a titan mantis is a show of strength for the minotaurids, and serves as a ritual into teenagehood (18 years).

To reach adulthood, minotaurids have to undergo intense training and gladiatorial duels, competing against their peers for the right to have their genetics copied onto the next generation.
