Description
Spider-like, humanoid demons with six extra arms coming out of their backs. These spider demons, also called arachnoids, can wield weapons in each of their eight arms, becoming bladed maelstroms on the battlefield.
They are exceptionally fast and skilled, yet like many of the demonic species, they lack complex reasoning skills.
Unlike many of the other demons, spider demons lack the capacity for human verbal communication. They still understand human speech, but can only speak amongst themselves in eerie, high-pitched chirps and clicks.
Arachnoids are semi-solitary hunters and stalkers, serving as the assassins and agile infantry (e.g., wall climbers) of the Allfather’s army. In Etheria, they build their nests in the shadowy crevices of the vast, cavern-like plane, hiding from the other demonic species unless ordered not to.
Arachnoid bodies are exceptionally springy, an adaptation that protects them from most blunt damage. Because of this adaptation, arachnoids are able to survive falling from nearly any height. However, arachnoids are highly vulnerable to fire.
History
Created by the Allfather Demon partly to combat the issue of swordsmanship skills; if humans can beat something that has two hands, try beating something with eight.
Simultaneously, arachnoids make up for the boneborns’ weakness to blunt damage by almost being immune to it.
Other Information
Arachnoids are among the most terrifying creatures for a soldier to come across on the battlefield, as its virtually impossible to predict and block all eight of its arms, not to mention most blunt weapons (e.g., Warhammers) do almost no damage to it.
