Vulture Fly

Threat Scale: Lower Boar

Description

Vulture flies are black insects with powerful mandibles used for biting through the flesh of soldiers fallen in battle.

While vulture flies aren’t dangerous on their own, it’s their massive swarms that are the issue. Their sheer numbers (in the thousands or tens of thousands) combined with them being highly territorial, makes for a horrifying combination. There are hundreds of cases of looters being killed by these bugs after disturbing their feasts.

Behaviour

These insects follow the smell of battle (blood, smoke etc.), and swarm in massive cohorts of thousands to even hundreds of thousands of individual insects depending on the size of the battle.

It’s still unknown where they lay their eggs, what they eat and where they stay when there are no rotting carcasses nearby.

Diet

Feeds on the corpses produced by battle as well as various decaying animal carcasses.
