The four-hundred year long brutal war of revenge between the Lumare and Kaligo Empires.

Year: 9-402 (ongoing) L.T.
Description
The bloody war between the Lumare and Kaligo Empires, which has robbed millions and millions of lives, both civilians and soldiers alike. Dozens of unique ecosystems have been decimated by the war and hundreds of species have been brought to extinction.
Kaligo himself declared war on the Lumare Empire four hundred years ago, out of jealousy and spite for his brother, Lumare. Now the war is fueled by centuries of hatred and revenge, the true reasons for the war and the era of peace and cooperation before it, having long since been forgotten.
Events
Early war (9-15 L.T.)
In the early spring, vast flocks of tens, if not hundreds of thousands of midnight moth were spotted all around the world, serving as an ill omen to the survivors who had witnessed the midnight moth boom right before the Chaos Times.
Many thought that a great disaster similar to the Chaos Times would happen again, and only a few months later, what the ill omens foretold came to happen.

During late spring of the year 9 L.T. Kaligo declares war on the Lumare Empire (then called the Water Empire), out of spite and jealousy for the success and prosperity of his brother’s empire.
During the first year of the war, Lumare holds back significantly, desperately trying to convince his brother to stop the war and negotiate, trying to understand his side.
The Kaligo Empire (then called the Fire Empire), gained significant ground over the first two years of the war, as Lumare’s forces were holding back. Once reports of hundreds and thousands of civilians being killed and tortured, as Kaligo’s forces pillaged through the water empire’s villages reached Lumare, he bolstered his efforts, quickly driving the Fire Empire’s forces back.
Angered at the sight of his forces losing ground, Kaligo tried to gain the upper hand through any means necessary, even if it meant getting his hands dirty.
Kaligo crafted great weapons of war, including the formidable spirit of fire, Karak, using it effectively in battle to scorch anyone that got in his way, civilian or not. Using various backhanded tactics and inhumane weaponry, Kaligo managed to secure multiple victories against Lumare.
Near the end of year 11 L.T. as Kaligo realized that Lumare was still holding back, never entering the battlefield himself, it angered him more than anything had before; he wanted his brother to go all out, so that he could show the world that he was better. In a state of profound spite, Kaligo went and did the unthinkable; he kidnapped, tortured, and murdered Lumare’s wife.
Following this event, Lumare went silent, his calm as a morning lake personality transformed into a furious stormy sea.
Lumare entered the battlefield for the first time, single-handedly killing tens of thousands of soldiers as he stormed the Fire Empire’s capital, before confronting his brother.
Lumare showed no remorse in the ensuing battle, decimating his brother and teaching him a lesson. Kaligo faced the full wrath of his brother, who was stronger than he ever imagined. In the end, Kaligo learnt his lesson, and perished.
After the death of Kaligo in year 12 L.T. Lumare continued to fight on the frontlines, decimating any armies and cities that dared to attack his empire. During these battles, he showed no mercy, and even ended up killing thousands of civilians.
Eventually, Lumare felt satisfied, having left nearly the entirety of the Fire Empire in ruins. He returned to the capital of the water empire, then called Luxara, where he sat in silence for the rest of his life, having lost the spark of life from his eyes as he slowly succumbed to magic disease.
In the year 15 L.T. Lumare died, quietly sitting on his throne. This marked the end of what is now called, Lumare Time.
Century of Sorrow (15-100 L.T.)
During the century of sorrow, beginning after Lumare’s death, both the Water and Fire Empires rebuilt themselves and mourned their losses.
There was a lot less conflict as both empires were solely focused on recovery and survival, facing large scale famines and disease outbreaks.
Eventually, the remnants of the Fire Empire, as well as a zealous group who’s sole purpose became to avenge Kaligo (the Flame of Revenge), formed what is now known as the Kaligo Empire.
Similarly, the Water Empire renamed themselves the Lumare Empire in Lumare’s honor.
The battles that took place over this century were a lot smaller in scale, many being only minor skirmishes. The flames of revenge were brewing, as both empires started focusing all their efforts into developing more and more deadly weapons and technology at the end of the century.
Century of Vengeance (100-200 L.T.)
One of the bloodiest centuries of the war, during which massive all-out battles took place all over the world. With all-new technological advancements and fire/water spells specialized to counter the other, the competition was fierce.
Millions of lives were lost in the ensuing war, as the hatred between the two nations kept growing and growing.
Civilian settlements were pillaged, enemy women and valuables stolen and sold off within both empires.
The Kaligo Empire had grown substantially in size, no longer facing famine with the advent of better farming techniques. Their army grew, including even battle beasts of various kinds; tortured creatures and monsters that were forced to fight on the frontlines.
During this horrific century, the already small race of goliathans were nearly wiped out, as they were used as massive and powerful infantry units by the Kaligo Empire.
Overall, over the span of 100 years that encompassed the century of retribution, the Kaligo Empire recovered its former strength, and then some, securing dozens of important victories.
Century of Balance (200-300 L.T.)
During the century of stalemate, the Lumare Empire grew its military capabilities substantially, even founding the Elite Squads for the ten legions.
The armies were locked in a stalemate for a long time, one nation making a victory here, another over there. The two empires were just as strong as the other. While millions more lives were lost, the national borders didn’t change much.
Century of Desperation (300-400 L.T.)
The Lumare and Kaligo Empires war efforts seem to be coming to an end, with both empires doubling down in an attempt to snuff out the other.
The first half of the century had the Kaligo Empire on the upper hand, winning battle after battle, enlisting more and more soldiers from all around the world to replenish the attrition caused by the constant battles.
As the Snowden family took over the royal court of the Lumare Empire, things took a drastic turn. Emperor Rasin Snowden of Lumare made plenty of ingenious strategies to turn the tide quickly, and his brother enlisting into the military as Captain of the First Legion made all the difference.
The Lumare Empire began winning battle after battle, taking down multiple of the most powerful Kaligo Commanders, such as the formidable Kouga Ardoladd.
Once Kline and Emery Snowden became Elite Warriors, and later on Captains of the first and second legions respectively, the Kaligo Empire’s victories diminished even further.
Misc
