Iridium-Flarestone Engine

A highly complex and expensive engine made out of iridium and flarestone.

Description

Iridium-Flarestone engines or generators, otherwise known as IF engines, are highly complex magimechanical constructions, built to convert magical energy into other usable forms, such as kinetic or electric energy.

Mechanics

IF engines utilize the properties of both iridium and flarestone to both conduct, store, and harness magical energy. The flarestone in the system stores and releases energy, whereas the iridium conducts it and converts it to other forms.

The mechanics are a lot more complex than that, as without proper tweaking of the rates of conversion and release, the engine would simply explode like a high-powered flarestone bomb.

Because of the price of both creating and maintaining an IF engine, they are exceptionally rare, only really seen in the capitals of the world.

Use

IF engines are used mostly to power the iridium networks in the capitals of the world, to power various apparati, and even in some cases to power protective barriers around cities, as seen in East Itero.

Misc

IF engines are cost as much as 1,000 ALU (€10 Million) per engine.
