Highly bitter, poisonous common red berry.

Description
Crimson berries are a somewhat common berry that grows in most forests around the world. While they look appealing, they are horribly bitter and somewhat poisonous to humans.
Properties
There is an interesting side effect of ingesting the berries. Because of an enzyme in them, when it is mixed with saliva, it produces a crimson red liquid, mimicking blood almost perfectly.
Misc information
Crimson berries are an important dietary component of rubum birds, being one of their main sources of food from early summer, all the way to winter.
They can be boiled and fermented, which removes both the bitter taste and the toxins. After processing the berries, it can be made into a juice or a deep red alcoholic beverage.
Habitat: Grows all around the world, preferring temperate climates.
