Description
Barkskins are humanoid demons almost entirely made out of artificially animated wood. They are highly resistant to swords, spears, and most projectiles, being completely unfazed by arrows puncturing their wood-like body.
While created to be resistant to most conventional weaponry, barkskins are quite vulnerable to axes and fire.
History
Because of their vulnerability to fire, barkskins were most often targeted during the Chaos Times using makeshift incendiary devices.
Near the end of the Chaos Times, an army of barkskins were ordered by one of the more prominent Lower Demons at the time to attack a human city by emerging from the ocean coast. This lead to immense bloodshed as the improvised incendiary devices of the inhabitants proved ineffective at setting them on fire.

Barkskins were one of the first experimental demons created by The Allfather Demon, shortly after the boneborn.
